Following the resounding success of the sold-out Hogwarts Magic Symphony, which was performed over two days, the Lords of the Sound Orchestra once again transported us to a world of enchantment with a spellbinding performance of Howard Shore’s iconic score from the beloved Lord of the Rings films.
As one of Ukraine’s most renowned orchestras, Lords of the Sound continues to redefine orchestral experiences by blending classical music with modern elements. With a decade of remarkable performances under their belt, the orchestra never fails to evoke deep emotions and create unforgettable moments for their audiences.
Christmas Theater in Athens, Greece was once again packed, brimming with fans eager to return to the heart of Middle Earth, all while being serenaded by the sweeping melodies of the Lords of the Sound Orchestra. The concert included a carefully selected range of pieces from both The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit films, along with evocative narrative excerpts from J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterful books, which added an extra layer of depth to the evening’s experience.
Under the expert direction of conductor Shahrokh Fathizadeh, the orchestra delivered an exceptional performance. The music resonated with power and grace, perfectly capturing the emotional highs and lows of Tolkien’s epic saga.
The evening’s atmosphere was further enriched by the enthusiastic engagement of the audience. Conductor Shahrokh Fathizadeh encouraged us to become part of the performance, urging the crowd to clap along with the rhythm of the music, which added an interactive element to the show. The audience embraced this invitation wholeheartedly, clapping in unison, and some even waved their phones, filling the theater with a warm, ambient glow. This collective energy created a sense of unity, making the performance not just a concert, but a shared experience.
The costumes were nothing short of elegant, with each member of the orchestra dressed in carefully crafted attire that reflected the grandeur of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit worlds. The intricate details, along with beautiful pieces of jewelry, added a striking touch, enhancing the overall appearance of the performers and deepening the immersive atmosphere. However, the graphics projected in the background were a bit of a contrast. While they certainly added a visual element to the performance, they felt somewhat amateurish compared to the exceptional quality of the costumes and the orchestra's musicianship. Still, it didn’t detract from the magic of the evening.
A special shoutout goes to the incredible violinist and flutist, whose outstanding skills truly elevated the performance. The violinist’s vivid and playful playing was so infectious it almost made us want to dance along—if only there had been enough space! His emotive and lively performance brought even more depth to the stirring melodies. Meanwhile, the flutist’s delicate and precise execution added a magical touch to every note. Their performances were nothing short of mesmerizing, capturing the essence of the music and leaving a lasting impression.

The Lords of the Sound Orchestra will continue their tour throughout January with upcoming stops in Germany, Romania, Cyprus, Sweden, and Poland. The tour will extend until the end of June, with performances in France, the United Arab Emirates, New York (USA), and many other countries across Europe. Their ever-growing global fanbase eagerly anticipates each show, underscoring the orchestra’s widespread appeal and the universal magic they bring to the stage.
